“Pooper Scooper” Law in Prince George‘s County
Dear Perrywood Homeowners/Residents:
It is the community’s expectation that all pet owners living in the Perrywood Community Association comply with Prince George’s County Pooper Scooper County Code (CB-36-1985; CB-3-1987):
Sec. 3-139. Defecation; Removal of excrement:
(A). No person owning, keeping, or having custody of a dog or cat, except a seeing eye dog, shall allow or permit excrement of such animal to remain on:
(1) Public property, including streets as defined in Section 1-102(a)(34); or
(2) Private property without the consent of the owner or occupant thereof.
(B). The person owning, keeping, or having custody of the animal shall immediately remove the excrement deposited by the animal.
To file a complaint, you need to know the address of the dog owner. Homeowners can call 311 or go online to County Click: Code Enforcement – Single Family Home (Occupied).
Animal Services will send the violator a letter. If they see the offense, they can issue a fine. Fines may start at $100 and can go up to $2,500. If it becomes an ongoing nuisance, it can be sent to the Commission for Animal Control for further action.
Thank you,
